Tuesday 4 January 2022 Spring term and COVID! In line with current government guidance to schools, the outreach team will be working online where possible, but continuing to make visits into schools where an observation is necessary. Please do not hesitate to contact your outreach teacher if you feel a visit would be unsafe due to the numbers of cases in your setting, or if your school risk assessment has any additional precautions not covered in our own.

Monday 1 February 2021 Vanessa's Blog: January - ...but when? One of the tricky things we have to manage at the moment is the uncertainty of when schools will be fully open again. We know our young people cope a lot better with change if they have time to process the idea and prepare themselves, but that can be difficult to achieve when we are all waiting for government announcements to guide us. This is not a new situation. We often find ourselves wanting to prepare young people, when we don’t yet have all of the information. Two examples would be moving house or waiting for a new baby to arrive.

Thursday 21 January 2021 Vanessa's Blog: December - Top Strategies of 2020 2020 has been a year that none of us could have predicted and the outreach team have often found ourselves faced with questions we could never have predicted 12 months before. How do we teach a child with autism to socially distance? How do we engage our kids in home learning, when they really want home and school to be kept completely separate? How do we get them back in after 6 months at home? Throughout the pandemic we have tried to keep supporting schools and families in new and different ways, which has been a learning process for all. The website has been a big part of that and it has been really lovely to hear that so many of you find our resource pages useful.
